Some children may need more focused and skilled support to build their emotional well-being and resilience, establish strong social connections and manage the transitions that they face.

FRIENDS is an intervention programme underpinned by the principles of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy with the aim of building the resilience of individuals and families. It is a ten-week intervention that can be implemented to whole classes, small groups or individual children, and has been recognised by the World Health Organisation as effective (WHO,2004).

Learning Objectives

The FRIENDS curricula promotes valuable skills to people of all age, including:

  • Awareness of Feelings
  • Body Clues & Relaxation Attention & Mindfulness Training
  • Changing Unhelpful Thoughts to Helpful Thoughts
  • Coping Step Plans
  • Role Models and Support Networks
  • Giving back to the Community
  • Sustainability Strategies

Salus is an accredited training partner of the FRIENDS programme International Foundation. By attending our one-day training, you can become licenced to run the Fun FRIENDS, FRIENDS for life and My FRIENDS Youth programmes in your school or organisation.
