Youth Worker

Salus is a social enterprise established to deliver services to children and young people.

We are currently seeking a part-time Youth Worker to work alongside the Senior Youth Worker in the Folkestone & Hythe District, to implement a range of centre and outreach-based youth services in the district. The role will involve working directly with young people and supporting the Senior worker in day-to-day administration and running of sessions and projects, to offer a service of support with an aim to improve young people’s emotional health and well-being.

We are looking for a talented individual, with experience in working directly with young people in creative and innovative ways to achieve the best possible outcomes. This post will require energy and enthusiasm to ensure the success of this highly valued service.

Location: Folkestone & Hythe District
Contract Details: Part-time – 22 hours per week. Includes evenings and weekend work.

Youth Mentor

At Salus, we are very proud of the multi-skilled team of experienced, talented and motivated practitioners who drive our innovative new Serious Youth Violence Service.

Salus has a long history of delivering ‘cutting edge’ services to children and young people who need our support the most. Youth violence has devastating consequences for individuals, families, communities and society at large. We believe that children and young people involved in gangs, youth violence or any form of exploitation, are first and foremost, vulnerable and in need of support and protection.

Through funding obtained by Kent County Council, in collaboration with Kent Police and Medway Council, the new service will work creatively, using evidence of what works, to support children, young people, their families and communities to both prevent and tackle serious youth violence. We want to ensure young people are supported to build their resilience and move away from violence and harm.

Quite simply, we are looking for a Mentor with the life experience and/or professional experience that means that they know what it takes to achieve the best. We are driven to make a real difference in the lives of children and young people and relentless in our pursuit of excellence in all services for them.

Restorative Justice Lead Trainer & Practitioner

Salus have been at the forefront of Restorative Services for many years. We have led the way with many ground-breaking initiatives and ensured that this approach is embedded in many organisations across the Country.

We are now seeking a Lead Trainer and Practitioner to continue this excellent work. This is an exciting opportunity to use your passion, skills and experience to equip and enthuse other practitioners to use Restorative Justice/Approaches for maximum impact with children, families and communities.

To do this we are looking for a skilled and experienced trainer with knowledge of Restorative Justice/Approaches and the energy to drive this service forward.

The role is part time (0.5fte) and we are ideally looking for someone to deliver this through an annualised hours contract across the year to respond to peaks and troughs in demand. Exact details negotiable. Please get in touch for more details.

Intensive Mentors

We know that many young people have been deeply affected by the pandemic. They tell us that they feel more anxious, more isolated, and more in need of support than before. Now, more than ever, young people need our help to build their resilience and promote their well-being by helping them to reconnect with the world around them.

Do you have the professional experience and skills to work with young people to achieve positive and sustained change? Do you have diverse skills that mean you can also meaningfully engage with families?

If your answer is “yes!” to these questions, then we hope you may be interested to hear that we are seeking to appoint multiple Intensive Mentors, across Kent, as part of the HeadStart Kent Programme. These roles offer an exciting opportunity to use evidence-based approaches and programmes of support to achieve maximum impact.

This is an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of an innovative and ground-breaking service using whole family approaches to tackle unemployment.

We know that sometimes, the ability to work is frustrated by lots of complex issues. We know that being employed is linked to many positive outcomes for parents and their children. We also know that tackling the barriers and disadvantages that some unemployed parents face, will require some skilled and intensive support to overcome.

Do you have what it takes to make a real difference to the lives of families facing multiple challenges? Do you have a professional background that gives you the knowledge to work with families for maximum impact? Do you have wide ranging, and diverse skills gained through experience of working with families in challenging circumstances?

Do you understand the barriers to employment and have creative ideas to overcome these? Most importantly, do you have the personal skills and values to be creative and resilient in engaging families, to offer practical focused support and challenge and at all times, to ‘think family’.
