Intensive Mentoring – Dartford & Gravesham

Salus Intensive Mentoring Service – Dartford and Gravesham

Service: Salus are now able to offer an Intensive Mentoring Service to children and young people in Dartford and Gravesham, funded by the Kent and Medway Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG).

Aim: The aim of the programme is to improve the emotional health and well-being and build the resilience of children and young people.

Who is it for: The service will initially focus on children and young people who are about to transition to secondary school, or have done so recently.

While numbers are limited, the service is for any child or young person who is not accessing specialist services but is experiencing increased anxiety or poor mental health and would benefit from focused, tailored and skilled support to improve their emotional well-being and resilience.

The offer: Salus adopts a strengths-based approach to supporting children, young people and their families. Using a range of evidence-based approaches and tools (such as the FRIENDS resilience programme) and through a team of talented mentors, we work to understand needs and implement an action plan to address these.

The mentor will seek opportunities for the young person to develop their social confidence, engaging them in confidence building activities, working with parents to develop their skills, supporting resolution of family-based issues, and supporting access to other services as required.

Following assessment of need, the mentor will offer approximately 10 weeks of support.

Referrals: It is expected that a resilience conversation will have been undertaken with each young person, prior to referral.  A copy of the referral can be downloaded by clicking on the link on the right.
