These programmes are ideal for children and young people who have difficulty in making and sustaining friendships and who:
- Find participating in games and turn taking difficult
- Are unable to accept winning or losing
- Cannot identify their own emotions
- Cannot appropriately express feelings
- Require support to gain motivation towards a positive goal
- Cannot recognise and understand the feelings of others
- Need to develop positive relationships with their peers
- Have low self-esteem
Overall Aims:
Children and young people participating in Salus Friendship Programmes will be offered the opportunity to:
- Participate in group activities and games
- Develop emotional literacy
- Set goals and plan how to achieve them
- Spend time with peers in a structured, positive environment
- Develop self-esteem through participation
