These programmes are ideal for children and young people who have difficulty in making and sustaining friendships and who:

  • Find participating in games and turn taking difficult
  • Are unable to accept winning or losing
  • Cannot identify their own emotions
  • Cannot appropriately express feelings
  • Require support to gain motivation towards a positive goal
  • Cannot recognise and understand the feelings of others
  • Need to develop positive relationships with their peers
  • Have low self-esteem

Overall Aims:

Children and young people participating in Salus Friendship Programmes will be offered the opportunity to:

  • Participate in group activities and games
  • Develop emotional literacy
  • Set goals and plan how to achieve them
  • Spend time with peers in a structured, positive environment
  • Develop self-esteem through participation
