01 May 2015

Safety in Action West Kent 2015For the last two weeks children from schools in the West Kent area have been attending the Salus ‘Safety in Action’ event, held at the Salomon’s Estate in Tunbridge Wells.

‘Safety in Action’ is an interactive event that invites Year 6 children to learn about some of the dangers they may face as they become more independent and prepare for transition to secondary school.

This event has been running in Kent since the early 1990’s, with several thousand children from Maidstone, Ashford, Swale, Tonbridge and Malling, Tunbridge Wells, Sevenoaks, Dartford, Gravesham, Swanley and Shepway taking part. It is supported by many organisations including Salus, Kent Police, Kent Fire and Rescue Service, RNLI, Kent County Council, British Transport Police, British Heart Foundation and UK Power Networks.

A number of scenarios are set up by the different organisations, designed to simulate and provide information about a variety of topics such as: drugs/alcohol, fire safety, water safety, electrical safety, rail safety, road safety, passenger safety, home safety, stranger danger, first aid, anti-social behaviour…
