Peer Mentoring in West Sussex

12 February 2016

West Sussex County Council commissioned Salus in September 2015 to deliver peer mentoring and support to schools and other learning settings across the county.

Two ‘Peer Co-ordinator’ training events have now taken place, giving nominated members of staff the knowledge and skills to be able to support the implementation of peer mentor training within their setting, as well as provide support to the peer mentors who are soon to be trained.

Over 30 primary and secondary schools have scheduled dates for groups of children to receive their mentor training, which will help them to develop the skills to support younger peers in their school.

Schools have reported that they are really pleased with the bespoke service that Salus is able to offer, and are excited to get their mentoring programme up and running!

If you are interested in developing a peer mentoring programme in your school, please contact us. More information about the programme can be found here.

We also have planned a Restorative Approaches training course, to be delivered in Haywards Heath in June/July 2016. The knowledge and skills that the staff will develop will help to not only support the mentoring programmes within their setting, but potentially have a wider impact on the whole school ethos.
