Salus deliver Youth Work Qualifications in association with George Williams YMCA College.
We are able to offer:
- 2 units from the Level 1 Certificate in an Introduction to Youth Work (awarded by ABC)
- Level 2 Certificate in Youth Work Practice (9 units; awarded by ABC)
2 units from Level 1 Certificate
For learners who are 16+ and interested in working with young people in a paid or in a volunteering capacity.
Provides the opportunity for learners to gain a basic understanding of the scope of the youth work sector, exploring:
- Issues that affect young people
- The role of youth work in addressing these
- The different youth work settings in which the work takes place
The programme is delivered over 6 sessions (3 hrs per session), with a minimum of 8 learners.
Learners must attend all sessions, and build a portfolio of evidence.
Learners must have a satisfactory DBS check to enrol on the course.

Level 2 Certificate
For practitioners who are 16+ working with young people in youth work, peer education and community education environments.
Strengthens the knowledge, skills and understanding of practitioners, exploring:
- Theory of Youth Work
- Safeguarding in a youth work setting
- Young people’s Development
- Engaging and communicating with young people
- Group work within a youth work setting
- Working with challenging behaviour in youth work settings
- Work based practice in youth work
- Reflective practice in a youth work setting
- Anti-discriminatory practice in youth work
The programme is delivered over 20 sessions (3 hrs per session), with a minimum of 8 learners.
Learners must attend all sessions, and build a portfolio of evidence.
Learners must be planning and delivering regular face-to-face work with young people, and have a line manager that can assess and comment on their practice. In addition they must attend 4 supervision sessions with their assigned supervisor.
Learners must have a satisfactory DBS check to enrol on the course.
