Cyber Smart

The Salus Cyber Smart Programme includes a range of workshops, training sessions and resources for children, parents, teachers and other professionals.

Cyber Smart pupil workshops are designed to equip children and young people with the skills, knowledge and confidence to stay safe in cyber space.

Parent workshops, along with CPD training sessions for teachers and professionals, are designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the technology children and young people are using as well as current cybersafety risks and issues. It also equips them with the skills, knowledge and confidence to educate children and young people about cyber safety.

Parent Workshops

We have comprehensive standalone parent workshops that are suitable for the parents of primary and secondary age pupils. The sessions are interactive and straight forward and require no prior technical understanding. The sessions work equally well with parents who consider themselves to have basic ICT skills and those who are more advanced users of ICT.  The parent sessions are most effective when they follow on from pupil sessions as the content is adapted to reflect the needs and issues identified during pupil sessions.  The workshop package also includes pre-session support materials to encourage engagement and attendance as well as a range of follow up materials for home use and content that can be added to school websites and parent newsletters. Sessions can be delivered as part of a whole day package alongside pupil workshops or as standalone twilight sessions.

Staff Workshops

Our Cyber Smart CPD sessions cover a range of e-safety topics such as the low and no-cost steps that schools and professionals can take to protect themselves, model positive behaviours, engage with parents and minimise the risks their children and young people face online.

Sessions for pastoral support staff and teachers delivering e-safety within PSHE, SRE and form time are designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the technology children and young people are using and current cyber safety risks and issues. They also equip them with the skills, knowledge and confidence to educate children and young people about cyber safety.

Sessions can be delivered as part of a whole day or half day package alongside pupil and parents workshops or as standalone twilight sessions.

We have a number of staff who are CEOP trained Ambassadors and are accredited to deliver the Thinkuknow Introduction course* to fellow professionals working with children and young people (subject to eligibility requirements). Completion of the course gives delegates online access to exclusive CEOP Thinkuknow resources.
