Anti-Bullying Award

Our Safe at School (SAS) Anti-bullying Award is our flagship approach to raising standards in anti-bullying practice. This nationwide award originated in Kent a decade ago and is recognised as a mark of high quality anti-bullying work. Once awarded, the accreditation last for three years. The programme is aligned with Department for Education guidance, equality legislation and Ofsted requirements.

Benefits

Schools and other settings that register, work towards and gain accredited status are publicly demonstrating their commitment to creating a safe, inclusive and accepting school environment where pupil and staff well-being is paramount and bullying is not tolerated.

The award demonstrates:

  • That you take bullying seriously and current or prospective pupils, and their parents, can be confident about your approach to pupil well-being.
  • That your school is open and willing to looking at what more can be done to improve well-being by tackling new forms of bullying and changes in bullying behaviour; especially those involving the use of new and emerging technologies proactively.
  • That your local community can be confident that you promote respectful relationships among and between pupils and adults.

It also:

  • Generates evidence that will help you prepare for the school inspection process.

Schools that embed a whole school approach and the ethos that is needed to achieve the criteria for the award, are able to demonstrate positive impact in attendance, attainment and well-being. This is evidenced by independent research.
